Labour councillor Michelle Booth has commended a new community gardening club in Kirk Hallam and says: ‘It’s great to grow you own!’
The venture is the brainchild of Kathryn Phillips, head cook at the Kirk Hallam Community Hall luncheon club.
The club is affiliated to the mental health services and meets on Mondays at the Kenilworth Road Community Centre and combines an affordable mid-day
meal with the opportunity to socialise.
Cllr Booth secured a small grant from Derbyshire County Council’s leadership fund to buy trowels, containers and top-soil.
Our photo shows Cllr Booth with Kathryn Phillips and Kathryn’s grandson, Lucas, alongside a luncheon club regular.
