MEMBERS of Nuthall’s Boys and Girls Brigades are close to reaching a fundraising target which will fund a trip to Nepal.
The groups need to raise a total of £22,500 to fund the trip in August this year and have so far raised £21,000.
Boys Brigade leader Peter Bales said he plans to organise a family fun day and a charity bag pack to raise the final £1,500.
Mr Bales said: “Raising this money over the last year has been a daunting prospect, but amazingly we are close to our target.”
Over the last year, the groups have teamed up for charity car washes, bag pack, a Christmas fair, quizzes, cake stalls, coffee mornings and a sponsored bike ride.
Emmy Wilcock and Bradley Mullen were the driving forces behind the latest charity venture, which was a talent show where group members sang and danced.
The group of 14 going to Nepal will work in two schools, at a refugee camp and in orphanages sharing their talents in music, dance, sport and education.
If anybody would like to help towards the final cost for the trip they should call Mr Bales on 07949 102 929.
