Help find Ilkeston golf course vandals

Repeated vandalism at Pewit Golf Course in Ilkeston has led Erewash Borough Council to ask for help in finding those responsible.

Vandals are regularly causing damage by using the flag poles to stab holes on the green, while heel marks from excessive stamping across the course are also a problem.

The council’s parks team are constantly repairing the greens at the popular nine-hole golf course, which is close to Rutland Sports Park on West End Drive and which also offers a FootGolf course.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “Here we have yet another example of mindless vandalism that we really should not have to be dealing with – this is utter stupidity by those responsible. Clearly those responsible are regularly walking in the area so we hope someone knows who is behind this vandalism and we appeal in the strongest possible terms for the public to help us find them.”

Anyone with information can contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or the council on 0115 907 2244.
