A veterinary group has welcomed customers in Ilkeston after unveiling a new state-of the-art surgery.

Derbyshire-based Ambivet recently opened its new high-tech facility on Little Hallam Hill after years of planning and substantial investment.

Despite the site being earmarked for development by Ambivet more than a decade ago, building work only started last spring, with construction completed in late October.

Company founder John Bailey, 61, said: “All of the team are extremely pleased with the surgery at Ilkeston and I am certain that it will meet all of the requirements of the Ilkeston and district pet owner.”

Features of the new clinic include extensive surgical and dental theatres, digital radiography, a large dispensary and multiple well-equipped consulting rooms.

Sian Smith, a veterinary nurse with the company said: “Our new Ilkeston branch is a purpose built facility. It allows us to offer an excellent service and the best level of care.

“As well as providing surgery, vaccinations and long-term medications, we also offer our own emergency out of hours service. It’s quite rare now to find a veterinary practice that can provide both in hours and out of hours care.”

Founded in 1979, Ambivet currently operates five branches across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The Ilkeston clinic is run by experienced veterinary surgeon Yvette Rowntree, and will focus on the treatment and care of exotic animals as well as traditional pets.
