House fire in Ilkeston

An investigation has begun after fire broke out at a house in Ilkeston.

Firefighters tackled the blaze at around 11.35am today (Sunday) at the home on Derby Road.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue service said the fire started in a first floor bedroom and spread through the whole floor.

Fire crews entered the property but withdrew due to the intensity of the blaze. They then fought the fire from outside the property.

Fire crews from Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Stapleford and Heanor attended. Police also attended.

Nobody is believed to have been injured.
