An Ilkeston petrol station has re-opened after a £600,000 makeover - creating 16 jobs.
The Co-op, on Heanor Road in the town, has welcomed back customers after the site’s closure for more than 12 months.
And the programme of works has seen replacement of tanks, pumps and signage, with the new store offering a range of fresh, healthy foods, hot food, meal ideas, award winning wines, Costa coffee, an in-store bakery and food-to-go.
Chris Trow, store manager, said: “Our ambition is to ensure the store is a local hub, a real asset for the community.”
Representatives from Ilkeston Community Hospital and Sure Start Children’s Centre (Ilkeston) joined Chris and the food store team to launch the store on Thursday.
