A poet from Ilkeston met with staff at the Nightingale Ward at Royal Derby Hospital to present a donation of £610. Steven Michael Pape dedicated his latest book Life in the Past Frame to his cousin Denise Roe who passed away in July 2016 and recieved treatment and support from the staff at the Nightingale Ward. The money was raised at the book launch night and also included donations from a raffle. Steven’s partner Vicki Foster hosted the event, which showcased original artwork from various Ilkeston artists. Denise Roe’s family also added money to the donation fund.
Steven said: “I wanted to raise funds to say thank you to the great staff at the ward who helped Denise and who still continue to help others during their treatment. It’s a very positive ward and the staff are excellent in providing support to those who desperately need it.”
