Primary school pupils tried out a range of athletics events at a mini festival in Ilkeston.
Children from Sawley Junior, Cotmanhay Junior, Kensington Junior, St Thomas, Brooklands, Mapperley, Granby Junior, Hallam Fields, Shardlow and Chaucer Junior all took part in the Quad Kids festivals at Rutland Sports Park.
Stations were set up and the children took a turn on each one. They included howler javelin, 600m, standing long jump, 75m and high jump.
All pupils gained an individual score, which was a combination of the points awarded for the distances and times of the four activities.
The scores of the top four girls and top four boys of each school were collated to determine a winner.
Sports leaders from Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy and Derby College helped to run the event along with leaders from Erewash School Sport Partnership (ESSP).
Rhian Lilley, ESSP strategic director, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for lots of children to come along and try out some different athletics disciplines.
“Hopefully by doing this the children feel inspired and excited by sport and hopefully their teachers might take some of the activities back into school and run them there too.”
