Ilkeston Railway Station is on track to be open to passengers by October.
Erewash MP Maggie Throup has been in regular contact with Derbyshire County Council about the scheme.
In a column for the ‘Tiser this week, she said the project team at Derbyshire County Council had advised her that all preparatory works was now complete, including an extensive mine working survey.
She has also been told that the council expects the main works to begin next month.
Ms Throup said: “If everything goes according to plan, the station should be open to passengers by the end of October.”
The station was originally meant to open in December 2014, but delays have seen the work take much longer than anticipated. This included the discovery of Great Crested Newts at the site.
The total cost of the new station is £9.938m.
