Staff and students at an Ilkeston school are organising a charity fun run.

Karen Morley, finance assistant at Saint John Houghton CVA, is co-ordinating the race which she hopes will be a real community event.

There will be a 3km and 5km event on Sunday, June 19 in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The charity grants wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people who are fighting life-threatening conditions.

Entrants will be asked to raise sponsorship for the charity after paying an entry fee which will help to cover the costs of organising the fun run.

Advance entry prices, paid by June 9, are £3 for under-16s and £5 for over-16s. After June 10, under-16s will pay £5 and entry for over-16s will be £8.

Businesses are also being asked to offer their support through sponsorship and this money will pay for medals for finishers, set-up costs and a chip timing system which will accurately record runners’ finishing times.

So far, £750 has been donated by local businesses including Ilkeston firm Saint-Gobain PAM UK, Morley Hayes, Langley Mill Flooring, KRM, The Aquinas Foundation and Stuart Lee Sport.
