Ilkeston has today (Tuesday) been named as one of the most likely towns in the UK to win funding for a new station.
The campaign has never been so likely to succeed after Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said the town was one of three front runners to win cash from a Government fund.
We have been campaigning here at the Advertiser since 2010 to re-open the station.
More than 1,500 residents signed a petition which was presented to the House of Commons by our editor during the campaign.
