Jealous boyfriend repeatedly punched partner in the face
A jealous boyfriend repeatedly punched his partner in the face and spat at her after a man had been staring at her during a weekend away.
Jake Kilcline, 23, of Brook Street, Clay Cross, hit his girlfriend so hard she thought she had broken her nose and she was left with black eyes, according to Chesterfield magistrates’ court.
Prosecuting solicitor Sarah Haslam told the court hearing on Wednesday, March 30: “They went out for a weekend in Leeds to watch a show and to go shopping but there was an argument after the show because a male had been looking at the complainant.
“They returned by taxi to a hotel and all of a sudden he punched her to the face and she thought she had broken her nose.
“The defendant punched her five or six times to the face causing black eyes and a bleeding nose.”
The court heard how Kilcline apologised but as she ended the relationship the following day he spat at her.
Kilcline pleaded guilty to assault by beating after the incident on February 26 and he also pleaded guilty to a second assault relating to spitting at the complainant on February 27.
The defendant also admitted breaching bail conditions on March 19 after he sent a phone message to the complainant when he had been prohibited from contacting her.
Defence solicitor Felicity Coats said: “He didn’t deny the allegations in interview. He entered a no comment statement originally and after seeing my colleague he fully admitted matters and has dealt with the case as though it was always going to be guilty pleas.”
Mrs Coats added that Kilcine has been assessed as having difficulties with emotional relationships and incidents have been borne out by alcohol.
Magistrates adjourned the case until April 20 to consider a probation report before sentencing.
Kilcline was released on bail on the condition he does not contact the complainant.
