World famous head-balancing pensioner John Evans is hoping to be given the unique honour of appearing in the record books more than anyone else.
If the Guinness World Records team features John in its 2013 book released next month – for balancing the heaviest car on his head – it will be his 19th appearance.
John, of Awsworth Road, Ilkeston, is confident that this will put him head and shoulders above the competition.
“It’s an amazing achievement,” he said. “And a great honour, of course.
“One of my dreams years ago when I was young – one of my life’s goals – was to get just one record.
“I have worked and worked and I have done it.”
John has appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009. In 2001 he appeared in the book five times.
“I’m diabetic, I’ve got a glass eye and I’m 21 stone and yet there’s no one else who has successfully challenged me with the head-balancing,” the 66-year-old added.
John has featured on TV around the world and has appeared more than anyone else on the Guiness World Records TV show. Other small screen appearances include two nights on the Jay Leno Tonight Show in USA.
