Langley Mill group raise money for epilepsy charity in Heanor swim

Lorraine Thorpe and her family and friends from Langley Mill have raised money by doing a sponsored 1 mile swim in aid of Epilepsy Awareness Day.

She made the decision to raise awareness and money for charity the
Epilepsy Society after seeing first hand the traumatic effect the illness has had on her niece, Millie who was diagnosed with the condition aged 4.

Lorraine contacted William Gregg Leisure Centre in Heanor to let them know of her challenge, and was greatly surprised by the support shown from them allowing them to swim for free.

Lorraine was joined by her Sister, Michelle
Hicklin, mother to Millie and friend Lisa Walton, whose own Daughter,
Sophie, was also diagnosed with the illness.

Lorraine has so far raised £300 while Lisa has managed to raise over £1000 on her justgiving page and plans to raise more by running the Edinburgh Marathon.
