Letter: Optimism for Robins

New Robins
New Robins

At the end of the third season for the ‘new’ Robins it’s time to reflect on a campaign that, although disappointing to some supporters, has, nevertheless provided optimism for those who want to see it.

The young academy lads have made great strides forward this season and have gone a long way to confirming the original strategy on which Ilkeston FC were founded.

Two league championships and two exiting cup runs while playing some lovely football have provided at least some excitement and success at the club and have also propelled a good number of the youngsters into the first team squad with the promise of lots more to come.

The first team chipped in at the end by retaining the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Thanks, as ever, to ‘Team ‘Tiser’ for the excellent coverage and I wish you and all fellow supporters a good summer with lots to look forward to next season.
