A teenage entrepreneur from Ilkeston has opened his own shop - selling e -cigarettes.

Lewis Brown, 17, runs Vape Envy, on Station Road, with Ami Walker, 29.

Lewis, from Cotmanhay, used to work at Doctor Smokeless, run by Dr John Ashcroft at the Old Station Surgery on Heanor Road.

When it closed down, Lewis and Ami, a former customer, decided to set up their own venture.

Lewis, a former pupil at Ormiston Academy, said: “When I worked at Doctor Smokeless we did really well, so when it closed we saw a gap in the market.

“We opened in November and had our grand opening on December 4. We did exceptionally well in our first week. People who want to give up smoking for a new year’s resolution have been coming into buy e-cigarettes .

“We are doing brilliantly. We have contracts with a number of organisations.

“We spent ages looking for premises but the rent on Bath Street was extortionate. We then found the premises on Station Road which used to be Yvette’s hairdressers.

“In the future I want to expand and have a new shop opening every year in a different location.”
