Life-saving heart equipment will be based at Ilkeston and Long Eaton Town Halls thanks to a joint £2,500 project between Erewash Borough Council, trentbarton buses and Erewash Local Strategic Partnership.

The two fully automatic defibrillators are now at the town halls and can be used by fully trained council staff and all trentbarton drivers in the event of a medical emergency.

Councillor Carol Hart, chairman of the Erewash Local Strategic Partnership, said: “If someone has a cardiac arrest, the first few minutes are crucial, so it goes without saying that these machines are life-savers and an important addition to facilities at the two Town Halls.

“By investing in them and the training of staff we know that in the event of a medical emergency, we may give someone a chance of survival, which is precious.

“We are delighted to have worked with Erewash Borough Council and trentbarton buses on what has been an incredibly worthwhile project. Thanks to all involved.”
