LONG EATON: Hit-n-run driver “sped up” to hit disabled woman’s dog

Police are appealing for information after a driver “appears” to have sped up his car and swerved to hit a dog.

Officers confirmed that the incident occurred on Thursday, May 28, when a disabled woman was crossing the road at Meadow Lane with her two dogs.

She claimed that a motorist “sped up and swerved” to hit one of her dogs, which has had to have a leg amputated as a result of its injuries.

Derbyshire Constabulary said the driver was described as being in his 50s or 60s, with greying dark hair, wearing a smart, light coloured shirt and driving a silver car, possibly a Vauxhall Astra or Vectra.
