DRIVERS have called for action on a road which was closed for more than eight hours after an articulated lorry shed 44 tonnes of scrap metal.
The DAF truck tipped on to its side in Lows Lane in Stanton-by-Dale at about 7.40pm last Wednesday.
The driver was taken to hospital with a suspected broken clavicle and severe concussion.
A passer-by who witnessed the crash said: “Had this been on a Thursday evening, 30 or so members of the brass band, including children, would have been in an out of the building and parked on that layby.
“There have been several accidents this year on that bend. It is only a matter of time before someone gets killed – I do hope it is not a child.”
