Man arrested after trying to force his way into Heanor house

Scared victims had to fight away a man trying to force his way into their house yesterday.

The occupants of a house in Loscoe Road, Heanor, were at home on Wednesday, December 30 when a man called at the door at around 4pm before trying to force entry.

Derbyshire police said: "The occupants went to answer the door but were confronted by a man who tried to get in.

"After a brief struggle in the hallway, the offender ran off towards Heanor town centre."

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the offence and remains in police custody, and police want to hear from anyone who saw the incident take place or might have seen the suspect, described as white, running away around that time.
