Man assaulted on night out

A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital following an assault outside an Ilkeston pub.

The incident happened close to The Charter pub in South Street at around 1.15am on Saturday.

The victim was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital with head injuries and a cut above his eye.

Witnesses saw the attackers get into a car and drive off.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “The victim was assaulted and had head injuries and a cut above his eye.

“Somebody reported seeing a fight and witnesses saw people getting into a car and driving away.

“Paramedics were called and the man received treatment to his eye.”

The car that the attackers drove off in was believed to be an Audi.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault or anyone who may have any information to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
