A 25-year-old man has been charged with robbery following an incident at Tesco in Ilkeston on Wednesday, January 31.

Jordon Hayter, 25, of Norman Street, Ilkeston is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court this morning in relation to the theft of a blue Fiat Punto from Tesco car park on Rutland Street.

During the robbery, the driver of the Punto was allegedly threatened with a sharp weapon before the robber made off with her car.

Hayter also faces two charges of shoplifting relating to a previous incident on Saturday, January 24 at the One Stop store on Charlotte Street, Ilkeston.
