A man has been charged with aggravated burglary following an incident at a house in Ilkeston on Sunday night.

Reece Edwards, 22, of Pool Road, Smethwick, has been charged with aggravated burglary with intent and is due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday).

Police were called to reports of a robbery in progress an address in Market Place shortly before 9pm on Sunday (April 2).

Two men went into the house with a knife and the male homeowner suffered a minor injury.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “We want to hear from anyone who was in the Market Place area around that time, who might have seen suspicious activity or witnessed any part of the incident.”
