A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a hit-and-run in Ilkeston town centre
The 48-year-old pedestrian was walking along South Street when he was struck by a silver Mercedes.
The driver did not stop at the scene.
Police said the victim was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries including a head injury and multiple breaks to his legs.
A police spokesman said: "His injuries are life-changing, not life-threatening.
"We're now trying to trace the driver."
Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident - which happened near Star Pizza at about 9.30pm on Friday - should call police on 101.
