The Mayor of Erewash is embarking on a marathon challenge in aid of her chosen charities.
Sandiacre councillor Jennifer Hulls is walking 26 miles and 385 yards on Satruday, and is set to take in some of the top sights in the borough.
She will be setting off from Long Eaton’s West Park at 7.30am with husband Bob, members of her family, her army cadet and a soldier from the Mercian regiment.
The route, devised by Erewash Ramblers, takes the group through Dale Abbey, West Hallam and Ilkeston.
Cllr Hulls said: “It is going to be a huge challenge because I have never walked that far in one day. I have been in training but I am sure I will be creaking by the finish.
“But the sponsorship money we hope to raise for my chosen charities will make it all worthwhile.”
She hopes 100 people will complete the route by the end of her year in office. Erewash Mayor’s Marathon t-shirts are available for those taking part.
Catch Cllr Hulls in Dale Abbey at 10.15am, West Hallam at about 1.30pm and Ilkeston town centre at about 3pm.
She hopes to arrive back in Long Eaton at about 6pm.
