Mayor wants to meet town folk at functions

Eastwood Mayor Brian Griffin wants to meet as many people as possible at functions and special occasions during his year in office.

Cllr Brian Griffin is encouraging invitations to functions, events, special occasions and celebrations such as diamond wedding anniversaries.

“I want to meet as many people as I possibly can while I’m the Mayor of Eastwood,” he said.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be Mayor of this town and I want to take the chance to meet the people who live here.

“Whether it’s a special birthday or the opening of a school or a shop I would love to be there to represent the town,” he said.

Cllr Griffin was installed new Mayor of Eastwood at a meeting of the council on May 14.

He took the chains from Cllr Ken Woodhead.

Cllr Griffin was also Mayor in 2010.

This time around he is raising money for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust and the Huntington’s Disease Association.

People can request Cllr Griffin at a function by emailing Eastwood Town Council at or by calling the council clerk, Chris Thompson on 01773 719 384.
