Mining heritage day at the Lawrence centre

WANDERING Troupedors, poetry readings, jokes and memorabilia, all with a mining twist will feature at an event at the DH Lawrence Heritage Centre in Eastwood.

The Mining Heritage Day is a celebration of the area’s rich mining heritage and takes place on May 27 between 11am and 4pm.

Local folk musician, The Misk Hills Mountain Rambler and his friend will act as wandering troupedors entertaining with their mining songs and there will be displays by coal mining enthusiasts and organisations such as Jacksdale Cultural and Heritage Society and former miner and mining memorabilia collector Tony Kirkby.

Admission to the event is free with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits from 1pm to 2pm.
