People are being urged to put a food donation on their Christmas shopping list.
Derbyshire County Council has just approved a further £70,000 to support Derbyshire’s 22 food banks, including Ilkeston, as more people are relying on them.
The move comes as the Government said it would ‘seriously’ consider the outcome of an inquiry into hunger in the UK by MPs and church leaders which found that many families are one unexpected bill away from financial crisis.
There are now three times as many food banks in Derbyshire as there were in 2012. More information can be found at derbyshire.gov.uk/foodbanks
