Local MP Maggie Throup is to hold an urgent meeting with borough council chiefs over the vandalism of a number of saplings in Long Eaton’s West Park.
She has arranged to meet Councillor Chris Corbett, leader or Erewash Borough Council to press him for a solution and tackle the problem.
Maggie said: “Erewash is proud of its green spaces and has quite rightly been recognised for them nationally, with both West Park and Victoria Park receiving the coveted Green Flag Award.
“This sort of mindless vandalism by a small minority is spoiling what our community has here at West Park and it must stop now.
“I have therefore requested an urgent meeting with Councillor Corbett to discuss the matter and look forward to working with him, together with our local Police, so that we can tackle this problem for local residents.”
