EASTWOOD MP Gloria De Piero pledged her support to Durban House Heritage Centre when she joined representatives from Broxtowe Borough Council and the University of Nottingham on a visit to the centre this week.
The University of Nottingham recently offered more than £100,000 to help secure the future of the building which houses the DH Lawrence Heritage Centre.
As part of the deal the university will work with Broxtowe Borough Council in a long-term partnership to safeguard Durban House and end uncertainty over its future.
As part of the proposals, the historic building will be used to support the University of Nottingham’s outreach activities with local schools, raise aspirations and increase access for local people.
Miss De Piero supported the campaign to keep Durban House open when it was threatened with closure.
