BROXTOWE MP Anna Soubry has vowed to fight UK Coal’s plan to mine land known as DH Lawrence land countryside between Trowell and Cossall.
The Conservative MP has helped to arrange public meetings after the Doncaster-based coal giant submitted an application for a 320-acre mine on land known as Shortwood Farm last month.
Residents were warned they had just weeks left if they want to make their views known about the application.
But Nottinghamshire County Council has now agreed to extend the initial public consultation to June 18.
Ms Soubry said: “I fear this is going to be a long tough fight.
“But we are all united on the subject and it is vital we continue to work together.”
n A public meeting organised by Trowell Parish Council is being held in Sunday May 13 at Trowell Parish Hall from 3pm-4.30pm.
Awsworth Parish Council are holding their public meeting on Friday May 25 at 7pm in the Parish Hall.
