A woman who lost her daughter seven years ago due to a heart condition is organising a fundraising night to raise money for the hospital which treated her.

Sam Partdridge ,from Cotmanhay, hopes the funds raised will help save the children’s heart unit at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester where daughter Amica was treated.

Amica was just 18 months old when she died due to a congenital heart defect. She spent much of her time in the hospital were she was treated for the condition.

The fundraising night will be held at the Woodside on Church Street on Saturday May 18 - the day after the anniversary of her Amica’s death.

Sam said: “My husband Barry will be having a fully body wax and my friend may have her long hair cut short if she can raise enough money.”

Entry is free and there will be a raffle, as well as disco playing 70s and 80s music.

Sam is currently busy collecting raffle prizes which include vouchers for a number of businesses such as Wetherspoons and Keith Hall.
