The trial of an Ilkeston man charged with the murder of his girlfriend has been moved forward.

Ian Meakin, 48, is alleged to have fatally stabbed 27-year-old Anglea Ward in Critchley Street, Ilkeston, on May 7.

He was due to face trial on November 10, but the trial is now expected to take place on October 27 after a time-slot has become available at Nottingham Crown Court.

John Lloyd-Jones, prosecuting, said at Leicester Crown Court: “This is an allegation of murder in a domestic setting.

“The prosecution will say this defendant stabbed and killed his partner outside the flat they partially shared in Ilkeston following a domestic argument.”
