New classes for creative children

Children in Ilkeston are being given the chance to unleash their inner Picasso thanks to a new series of classes.

The Creation Station offers babies and children under five the chance to get creative with paints, glue and glitter at weekly workshops that aim to take the mess and stress out of art and crafts.

Held at Ilkeston United Reform Church every Wednesday from 9.45am during term time, the workshops encourage children to create their own masterpieces using materials supplied by the Creation Station team.

The sessions, run by a qualified primary school teacher, develop imagination and creativity and have clear links to the early years foundation stage curriculum.

Creation Station franchise owner Rebecca Vowles said: “The sessions are a great opportunity for both parents and children to socialise, explore, learn and have fun in a safe, friendly, welcoming environment.”

Fay Leighton took her daughter along to a Creation Station session for the first time last week.

She said: “It was fabulous to have the opportunity to work on a large scale, mixed with paint, glue, sequins and feathers – what more could you want?”

The Creation Station sessions cost £5 per child per week, or £3 if you bring along a sibling.
