A parish council claims its concerns over 2,000 new homes planned for the former Stanton Ironworks have not been listened to.

Stanton-By-Dale Parish Council fears the major planning application submitted to Erewash Borough Council last year by Saint Gobain will be go ahead regardless of their concerns.

Councillor Paul Harvey said: “I see nothing that reassures us that we have been listened to.

“This council put a lot of emphasis on the core strategy but has failed to make any impact - we have not had one comment included.

“I would encourage the borough council to put some kind of pressure on the developer about highways. I don’t think our message is getting heard.”

Richard Snow, development control manager at Erewash Borough Council said: “We have advised the parish councillors that we are more than willing to meet with them and they have agreed to our suggestion that a joint meeting with other relevant parish councils would be the appropriate forum.”
