Ilkeaton-based Erewash Partnership is considering plans to turn an empty council-owned building in Long Eaton into a business centre.

Erewash Borough Council has approved a lease on Bridge House in Derby Road which has been empty for four years.

The partnership wants to replicate the success it has had at Casteldine House in Ilkeston, where office space is rented to start-up firms on ‘easy in, easy out’ terms.

Chief executive Ian Viles said it would be ‘win-win’: “Bringing back into use a prominent building in the town centre, assisting new and growing micro-businesses, and providing income for the council as well as the partnership,” he said.
