An Ilkeston Pcso has worked with more than 300 Cotmanhay primary school children as part of a project to encourage youngsters to become community champions.
Pcso Robert Webb started up the initiative with Granby Junior School and Cotmanhay Junior School two months ago.
So far pupils have learned about their behaviour at school, home and in the community.
Children have had to do homework related projects and when they are all progressing satisfactorily they are rewarded with a trip to Frankie and Benny’s on the Giltbrook Retail Park.
At the restaurant they learn how to make a pizza, how to set the table and they are given a talk about how the business has grown from nothing.
The pupils next project will be about the Arena Church’s Food Bank.
