Pedestrian dies after M1 collision

A MAN was killed after a collision on the M1 near Trowell services this morning (Saturday).

The motorway was closed between junctions 25 and 26 following the collision between the pedestrian and a van at about 7.35am.

The collision followed reports from drivers of a man walking along the hard shoulder.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he later died from his injuries.

The 56-year-old driver of the Ford Iveco van was shaken but uninjured in the collision. No one else was injured.

The northbound carriageway was closed until 12.45pm.
