Police are asking for help from the public in finding the owner of four spoons.
The spoons were seized from an Ilkeston man who was arrested for two thefts in Derby city centre on January 9.
The 21-year-old man has since been charged with the thefts - but police said the spoons are not related to either of these alleged crimes.
The matter is being investigated by PC Steve Broadhurst, who said: "The spoons were in the possession of the arrested man and we suspect they may also be stolen.
"However, we have checked our records and are not able to match them to any reported stolen property.
"It may be that they had not been reported at the time or someone has not realised them to be missing, but we would really like to return them to the rightful owner."
If you think you can help, call PC Broadhurst on 101, quoting reference number 18*612207:
