POLICE APPEAL: Teenagers witness Ilkeston assault

Police are appealing to find a group of six teenage girls who were in the company of a man believed to have committed a serious assault.

The incident which took place in Ilkeston on the afternoon of Friday, September 29 left a man needing treatment in hospital.

PC Shaun Elliott from Derbyshire Constabulary said: “A member of the public has reported that - whilst walking a footpath near Field House School - he was accosted and punched by a man, receiving injuries that required hospital treatment.

“The alleged offender is described as white, 6ft 2in tall with a medium build and wearing a dark hoody.

“He was with a group of six teenage girls at the time and I urge each of them to come forward and talk to us about what happened.

“They are not in trouble. We simply want them to help us make this man responsible for his actions.”

The group was last seen on the footpath towards Morrisons on Nottingham Road.

PC Elliott added: “If anyone saw a man with several teenage girls in Ilkeston that day – and you know his name or anything that might help identify the man – your information will be equally valuable.”
