Police hunt trilby wearing man after distraction burglary

A trilby wearing pensioner is being sought b police after a distraction burglary in Ilkeston.

On Monday January 6 an 86-year-old woman heard a noise in the kitchen of her Grangewood Avenue home and went to investigate.

She found a youth in her garden claiming he had lost a football. The teenager, described as being about 16-years-old, 5ft 3ins and slim, was joined by a man described as being in his late 60s and wearing a trilby hat and suit.

The victim thought nothing of the incident until the next morning when she realised her purse had disappeared from the house.

It is believed that while she helped the young man look for the lost ball, the older man went into the property and took the purse.

The trilby wearing man was described as being around 5ft 3ins and of medium build.
