Authority retracts MP highest rejected expense claim

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) has published a retraction on its website after wrongfully stating that Erewash MP Jessica Lee had made a claim for £166.66 to cover the electricity bill fo her constituency office.

It was widely reported that Miss Lee had the highest rejected expenses claim for a constituency office electricity bill when the authority published MP’s expenses for August and September 2011 last week.

The error has since been corrected and appears in the publication errors section of ISPA’s website.

Expenses paid to Miss Lee between August and September covered the cost of accommodation and office costs including stationery, postage and telephone calls.
