A DOG rescue centre is appealing for owners to consider neutering their pets after a heavily pregnant dog was found tied to a tree in Awsworth.
Just days later, the Staffordshire bull terrier cross, renamed Libby, gave birth to seven healthy puppies at Babbington Hall Rescue Centre after being recused by Broxtowe Borough Council wardens.
The authority is now urging owners to consider neutering their pets to help reduce the number of dogs found abandoned each week in the borough.
Cllr Stan Heptinstall said: “It is an offence to abandon a dog and we are appealing to anybody who recognises Libby to come forward with information, which will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.”
