THE LEADER of the council is expected to discuss plans to provide free parking in Ilkeston at a meeting tonight.
Conservative councillor Linda Corbett will ask the leader of the Tory-led council Cllr Chris Corbett what impact the recent VAT increase from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent will have on the authority’s plans.
The idea of free parking in Erewash – like neighbouring Broxtowe borough has implemented in Beeston – has been mooted several times over the last few years but never implemented by the council.
Meanwhile, an Ilkeston councillor is due to ask the council why promised maintenance to Ilkeston’s Stanton wagon and Victoria Park’s bandstand has not taken place.
