A SMALLEY publisher is helping to raise money for a cancer charity through the sale of an 89-year-old American autobiography.
Jane Bettany, 48, from Main Street, is re-publishing Log Cabin Lady – which was first published in 1922 – through her company, Dormouse Press
The autobiography tells the life story of a woman who leaves behind her life on the American frontier to live in England.
Although the book is written anonymously, the preface was written by magazine editor, Marie Mattingly Meloney.
She encouraged the Log Cabin Lady to tell her story and is famous for helping to raise $100,000 to support Marie Curie’s research in the 1920s.
And keen to follow in that fundraising tradition, Jane’s firm is donating £1 from every sale of the Log Cabin Lady to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Publisher Jane said: “We just wanted to continue this tradition of fundraising through the book.”
Jane is hoping to raise £3,000 for the charity. The Log Cabin Lady is available from all good book shops.
