Pubs pass underage drinker tests

Ilkeston Inspector, Nick Daines has praised Ilkeston pubs after they passed test purchases carried out last week.

Local officers went to five pubs in the town with underage youngsters but none of the venues served alcohol to the test buyers and one refused them entry.

The results show an improvement on previous operations when booze was served to under 18s.

Insp Daines said: “It’s pleasing to see that bar staff are taking a responsible approach towards underage sales.
“We will continue to perform the operations to make sure young people are safeguarded and that only adults can purchase alcohol in Ilkeston.”
