Quartet jailed for ten years

Four men have been jailed for more than ten years for crimes committed in and around Ilkeston.

The quartet pleaded guilty at Derby Magistrates Court to a number of offences.

Crimes they were charged with included burglary and motor vehicle theft, all taking place between January and April 2013.

Detective Constable Denise Sandal said: “These men were committing high value cigarette burglaries and were cross border criminals.”

Darrell Brandy (34) was sentenced to 18 months in prison for an attempt burglary at GT News in Sandiacre.

Adam Hodgkinson (25) received a 15-month sentence for his involvement in the offence as Brandy. He also stole a large quantity of cigarettes from a Co-op in Spondon and drove off without making payment for petrol from a petrol station in Ilkeston.

Ian Shakespere (32) was jailed for three years and nine months for the theft of a motor vehicle and two burglaries at Co-op stores where he stole cigarettes and alcohol.

Shane Smith (28) was sentenced to four years in prison after stealing cigarettes from a Co-op in Borrowash.
