Raising cash for cancer care

Cancer has touched so many of our lives. Everyone I know has been affected, whether this is a relative, partner, friend, neighbour or a work colleague.

I have lost family members and friends to this disease but I am lucky that I have still got many of them, and the most important person in my life, my mum, is in remission.

I wanted to do something to say thank you to the charities that have been so supportive, so as a way to raise money I decided to run a coffee and cake party.

Anyone that knows me also knows my hair, at the moment it is long and flowing, but I’m having it cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust so that they can use it to make into a wig for children that have undergone cancer treatment.

By Friday September 30 I will have dyed it pink too in time for the Coffee and Cake Party.

Since I decided to do this event I have had donations of items to use as raffle and tombola prizes and also top-named items to sell or auction.

Among these I have got a flat screen television (from Imperial Decorators), GHD Boho Chic Straightener set (from Topaz Hairdressers), Radley purses and mirror, an iPod, HD camcorder, Dolce & Gabanna perfume, Soap & Glory goodies, Next goodies and an Elemis Gift Set to name but a few.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event on Friday, September 30, at Charlotte Nursery and Infant School from 3.15pm.

Anyone interested in donating a raffle prize can call 0115 932 0970.
