Reader letter: Robins are the best soap opera in town

Another end to a season at the New Manor Ground and, as we’ve come to expect , nothing is simple in the world of the Robins.

It began with being one of the bookies’ favourite for relegation, produced some sparkling early season football from the crop of youngsters repaying the faith of those fans who charted their progress, and ended in glorious failure at the last hurdle in the promotion play-offs and left more questions than answers about the future.

Along the way we’ve seen the likes of Che Adams, Keiron Wallace, Ash Hunter, Kane Richards, Aki Wright and Rai Simons earn moves into the Football League, a change of ownership, and the departure of the man who many consider irreplaceable, Kevin Wilson.

All of this may come as a shock to some fans but, in my own small way of a lifetime following football at all levels, it comes as no surprise.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that NO one individual, be the player, manager or owner has EVER proved bigger than a club in the long run and “what goes around comes around.”

Take a bow ‘Tiser for covering all this for us in the balanced and professional way we’ve come to expect.

Take a well deserved break for now because come August it all comes round again.
