two good samaritans who helped to rescue a man in Sandiacre canal last year were honoured at an awards ceremony.
Helen Cox and Dean Pearson clung on to the man for ten minutes to keep him afloat.
A Royal Humane Society spokesman said: “Helen and Dean just happened to be passing by but they stopped to help.
“ They were brave and compassionate in their actions to help the man.
“Had it not been for their efforts there is little doubt that the man would have drowned.”
